Physical Inventory Control

Physical inventory control is the process of physically counting the actual quantity of items an organization has on hand and comparing those counts against the quantities recorded in its inventory system, in order to verify accuracy and identify discrepancies. A physical inventory can cover an entire facility's stock at once, often called a full or annual count, or a subset of items counted more frequently, an approach known as cycle counting.

What is Physical Inventory Control?

Physical inventory control verifies that what an organization's inventory system says it has on hand actually matches what is physically present in the warehouse, production floor or storage locations.
